in 1939 Germany invaded Poland in a quick attack that would leave them crippled and unable to request help. this tactic was effective because it came with vast power and super quick so the enemy in this case Poland couldn't get their military up and ready to defend them selves because the enemy is already moving through the land and has as much power as the opposing army.

operation Barbarossa was Hitlers operation to take land from the soviets and to enslave the Slavic peoples. Hitler launched his armies westward in attempts to defeat the soviets then run over and fight the U.S. and the British on the other side. this failed how ever because he underestimated the soviet army and the attack was prolonged because of the cold weather and bad weather conditions.

Pearl harbor was a naval base for U.S. near Honolulu, Hawaii. Pearl harbor was the outcome of the surprise attack from the japan on the american naval base. with the Japanese quickly expanding their territory into their surrounding neighbors land. The Japanese were scared of the U.S. coming in and interfering with their plans as well as the resources there was the Japanese thought that removing them would be a great idea.

the Filipinos and Americans soldiers were rounded up and forced to march from Bataan peninsula to San Fernando a 65 mile march. the Filipinos and Americans were rounded up by the Japanese armies who tortured the surrenders because the Bushido code said "...surrender in dishonor..." and they believed that death was honorable. the Americans retaliated by the invasion of island of Leyte in october.

is where the plan "final solution" was made. this was the plan were the Nazis agreed on physically annihilating the Jews. this was brought by the idea of Jews being inferior to the Nazis. this then started the annihilation of the Jewish race. the Nazis then went around gathering up the Jews who would then be sent to camps were they would be killed in many different torturous ways.

Operation Gomorrah was the plan were the allies would bomb the city of Hamburg to stop military production for the Germans. The allies bombed the city with tonnes of bombs levelling the factories and its workers homes. they then used incendiaries to do extensive damage to the city and its surrounding. this air raid was comparable to Nagasaki because of its damage and death toll.

D-day which lasted from June to August 1944. this was the result of the allies liberation of western Europe through naval strength. the allies stormed the beaches to liberate land from the German grip to free the western parts of Europe. lots of allies died during this raid and would be known as the most famous wwll battles.

The battle of bulge was Hitlers last offensive in WWll against the western front. Hitler was aim was to split the allies army apart to make it easier for the Germans to win against the smaller armies who also wouldn't have support. this plan failed because Hitler lacked the power to follow through with this plan. this failed and resulted in the being of the end for Hitler.

the allies with their advancing armies came across many concentration camps that held horrors that scared a lot of people. this is where the Jews and the P.O.W.s were sent to death. the Japanese had harder versions of these because they believed surrender was dishonourable and you should die in war. they would torture people who surrenders.

the Battle of Iwo Jima was the battle between the U.S. marines and the Japanese imperial army. the U.S. thought that the airbases that the Japanese had on the main land would be necessary in the invasion of the mainland. once the U.S. took the airfields they then questioned the actual need for the airbases. this battle lasted five weeks and took the lives of many U.S. marines.

on this day the Germans finally surrendered to the allies. after a long war and and a massive death count came the victory of the allies. this was a way point in the history of Canada. this was important because we were showing our independence. The allies would then go on to fight the Japanese.

operation thunderclap was the plan of the U.S. bombing the eastern German cities in an attempt to slow the German transport to the construction of the eastern front lines. this was to happen because the U.S. wanted to show the soviets their strength and support. this was to show the U.S, had lots of power and that the soviets should be careful at the end of the war. the U.S. bombed the German cities and left some in an effort to build administrative buildings to trail the germans.

The Germans and the Americans race to complete the first Atomic bomb. the Germans had the head start but couldn't complete the detonation of the bomb. the U.S. could detonated the bomb at their given time winning the race to the atomic bomb. the U.S. then flown to Hiroshima in a complete stripped B-29 super fortress to drop the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima. they then dropped the second bomb on Nagasaki.

This was the day that Japan surrendered to the allies. after the surrender or Germany all forces went to Japan to finish the war. this was quickly done because the U.S. now had a new weapon known as the atomic bomb. this was dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima.
