    The holocaust was the mass murder/ genocide of what was mostly made of of Jewish people by the Nazi regeme. This cause the death of over 11 million people. These people were likely sent to concentation camps where they we forced to work until they died, or they were taking in large groups to be killed. This was done in order to create a "perfect race."

    The battle of middeway was after the attack on Pearl Harbor and was sucessful in favor of the U.S. This was all thanks to code breaking, the United States was able to counteract Japan’s planned and ended up damaging the Japanese Navy. This was important because it was fought in the Pacific Ocean which gave a big advatage

    Battle of Stalingrad

    The Battle of Stalingrad was the Soviet invasion of the city of Stalingrad in the U.S.S.R and was one of the bloodiest battle in the whole war. This defense stopped the German advance into the Soviet Union and became a turning point in the war for the Allies.

    D-day was an American, Canadian, and British invasion of the German's occupied area of France.The codenamed of the invasion was Operation Overlord, but more commanly known as D-Day. About 156,000 of the American, British and Canadian forces arrived on the beaches across 50 mile long stretch on the coast of France’s Normandy area. The invasion required extensive planning and was no look at as not likely to be sucessful. It was sucessful and led to the defeat of the Nazi Germany regime.

    The battle of the bulge was German campaign against Belgium, France and Luxembourg. It was an attempt to spilt up the allied forces and gain new land for the German regime. The tactic was to use surprise blitzkrieg and catch the nations off-guard, the U.S. fought of these attacks to prevent German advancement.

    Battle of Iwo Jima

    The battle of Iwo Jima was an invasion based of the need for a base near the Japanese coast in the Pacific Ocean. The U.S. marine divisions landed on the island in February 1945. The conditions in the battle were harsh but, he marines fought off the attacking forces and won the battle.
  • Battle of Okinawa

    Okinawa was the last and biggest Pacific Ocean battle of the war. The campaign for Okinawa was through April 1st to June 22nd, 1945.The war was fought between 287,000 soldiers from U.S. Army and130,000 soldiers of the Japanese Army.The air bases that the U.S. had in the Pacific was helpful to defeat Japanese in the invasion . By the end of invasion Japan had lost more than 77,000 soldiers and the U.S. lost more than 65,000 casualties, 14,000 of the soldiers were found dead.

    When the Normandy invasion gave the U.S. an advatage against the Germans. It prevented Hitler from sending troops to France to finish building up the Eastern Front. So he could fight against the Soviet Union. With Hitler unable to make and advances Hitler surrenders to the U.S. on May 8, 1945. This day was concedered the offical V-E day. The surrender was caused from Hitler had committed suicide a week before on April 20th as well as the loss of the D-Day invasion.
  • Bombing of Hiroshima/Nagasaki

    August 6 the American plane called the Enola Gay dropped an atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima, this kiled over 70,000 people and destroying a 5 mile of the city. Three days after that the U.S. dropped a second bomb on Nagasaki, this one killed 40,000. The next day the Japanese government sent a statement saying they would follow Potsdam Declaration. This led to the surrender of Japan.

    America entered the war after Japan surprise attacked the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor. After the war was almost over the U.S. deployed bombs on Japan to finally ge them to surrender. On August 14, 1945, Japan surrendered to the Allies, ending World War II. This surrendered was just a few months after the surrender of Germany, Today August 14 and August 15 are known as Victory over Japan Day or V-J Day.The japanese surrendered a few months after the surrender of Germany,
  • Warsaw Pact

    The Warsaw Pact included the Soviet Union, Albania, Poland, Romania, Hungary, East Germany, Czechoslovakia, and Bulgaria as members.This tready was signed in Warsaw. This is why it called the warsaw pact. The pact was passed because the soviet union saw that the U.S. was trying to get West Germany a part of NATO. This meant that West Germany could then remilitarize. The Soviet union saw it as a threat and responded to America with this pact.
