    German Invasion of Poland
    • Fought in Poland
    • Germany and Russia (both invading from different areas) versus Poland
    • Hitler wanted to recapture Poland to provide living space for the Germans, as well as regain a lost territory (Poland) Germany had lost. The Nazi’s decision to invade Poland led to Britain and France officially declaring war of Germany. Germany and the USSR defeated the Polish and split Poland between the two countries giving Germany more land than the USSR.
  • Battle of Belgium

    Battle of Belgium
    Fought in Belgium and Luxembourg Belgium, France, Britain, and the Netherlands vs. Germany By invading Belgium, Germany had broken the Treaty of London; resulting in Britain, whom was bound to guard Belgium, entered the war. Germany went onto win the battle and force the allied troops back.
  • Battle of Crete

    Battle of Crete
    The Battle of Crete was the first battle of World War 2 in which the civilians fought the Nazis during an invasion. The tactics used by the Nazis sustained such high losses that the formations were never again used by the Nazis. The end result was that the Nazis forces involved in this battle were demoralized, and the troops were instructed not to talk about the battle with the other units; historians believe that this caused a 4-6 week delay in the invasion of the Soviet Union.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa
    Germany had begun acting upon Operation Barbarossa by invading the Soviet Union. Germany invaded with 4.5 million troops and used up a majority of their resources in an attempt to capture and dissolve the Soviet Union. In the end, Operation Barbarossa failed; this would become the turning point of the war as Germany was now limited on resources and was forced to “confronted a two-front war that it could not win.”
  • Battle of Moscow

    Battle of Moscow
    Fought in Moscow, Russia Soviet Union versus Germany Germany’s attack on the Soviet Union was the largest military attack of World War 2; it was given the code name Operation Barbarossa. Hitler believed that if he were to capture and take over Moscow that then the rest of Russia would begin to collapse. The Soviet Union claimed victory over Nazi Germany, Germany was now limited on resources after using so much during this battle.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    Japan’s surprise attack against the United States destroyed a majority of their battleships, wounded or kill their men, but also brought unity among Americans to join the fight and rebuild everything we had lost. The attacks led to America finally joining World War 2. The end result was that America lost a lot of its fleet, as well as thousands of soldiers lives stationed at Pearl Harbor and crippled our fleet; This attack also brought America into the war.
  • Stalingrad

    Stalingrad
    Battle fought in southern Russia The Soviet Union versus Germany, Italy, and soldiers from conquered countries Hitler and the Nazis wanted Stalingrad because the city was displayed as the industrial center of Russia. The ending of this battle came out as a USSR win and marked the first major Nazi loss of the war, as well as halted the Nazis from pursuing further into Eastern Europe and Russia.
  • Operation Torch

    Operation Torch
    • Fought in Algeria and Morocco
    • United States and United Kingdom versus Vichy France, Algeria, and Morocco
    • Allied invasion on French Morocco and Algeria, this was the first joint attack made by the United States and the United Kingdom in World War 2. In the end, the invasion failed to draw away German troops from the Eastern Front. However, the information acquired from this operation would help aid Anglo-Americans when invading in the future.
  • Normandy

    Normandy
    Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy in an attempt to push Germany out of France. Thousands of soldiers lost their lives in the process as while allied troops were storming the beaches there was very little cover to hide from the enemies bullets. In the end, the allied troops were able to reclaim Normandy and began the process of Operation Overlord which would lead up to Germany being removed from northwestern Europe.
  • Battle of Berlin

    Battle of Berlin
    Fought in Berlin, Germany Soviet Union, Britain, France, and America versus Germany and Poland This battle would officially take Germany out of World War 2. While allied troops traversed across Germany, they liberated more than 100 concentration camps. Allied Forces would end up capturing Berlin and finally get Germany to surrender, Hitler would commit suicide inside his bunker and had his body burned.
