    What Happened: when the Kwantung Army of the Empire of Japan invaded Manchuria immediately following the Mukden Incident.
    Why it Happened: Because Japan needed resources, to keep fighting in the war.
    Impact: The Japanese established a puppet state called Manchukuo
  • Nanking Massacre

    Nanking Massacre
    What Happened: It was a point of history of mass murder and mass rape committed by Japanese troops against the residents of Nanjing
    Why it Happened: It showed who was in power
    Impact: Since most Japanese military records on the killings were kept secret or destroyed shortly after the surrender of Japan in 1945 historians have not been able to accurately estimate the death toll of the massacre
  • German invades Poland

    What Happened: Was an invasion of Poland by the Nazis', the Free City of Danzig, the Soviet Union, and a small Slovak contingent, that marked the beginning of World War 2.
    Why it Happened: Because Hitler wanted to rule all of Europe
    Impact: The Soviet Union dividing and annexing the whole of Poland under the terms of the German-Soviet Frontier Treaty.

    What Happened:was the code name for Nazi Germany's World War II invasion of the Soviet Union. Hitler wrote a book of it.
    Why it Happened: Hitler's desire to destroy the Soviet Union and Communism.
    Impact: The largest invasion force in the history of warfare. The Germans employed 600,000 motor vehicles and between 600,000 and 700,000 horses. The Germans achieved surprising victories and occupied some of the most important economic areas of the Soviet Union, mainly in Ukraine

    What Happened: Japan bombed the US.
    Why it happened: Because Japan felt that they were getting treated with a lack of respect.
    Impact: That was the start of World War 2 between US and Japan
  • Battle of Midway

     Battle of Midway
    What Happened: It was a naval battle between Japan and the US Navy. 6 months after the Pearl Harbor Attack and a month after the Coral sea attack.
    Why it Happened: Because Japan felt like they were not getting with respect because US, Japan, and Germany made a deal. Germany got 10, US got 10 and Japan got 6. So Japan got mad and attack the US.
    Impact: US defended and won. The won so bad that Japan's fleet was irreplaceable after that battle

    What Happened: Was a major battle on the Eastern Front. Nazi Germany and its allies fought the Soviet Union for control of the city of Stalingrad
    Why it Happened: Because the Nazis' wanted to have more land and if they have more land they will have more power.
    Impact: One of the single largest and bloodiest battles in the history of warfare
  • Operation Gomorrah

    What Happened: British bombers go into Hamburg, Germany. Operation Gomorrah, Americans bomb it by day in its own “Blitz Week.”
    Why it Happened: Because the German were trying to raid Britain
    Impact:Britain had suffered the deaths of 167 civilians as a result of German bombing raids in July

    What Happened: The Normandy landings were the landing operations of the Allied invasion of Normandy. The largest seaborne invasion in history. Why it Happened: It happened because the country that we were having a war with was Germany. One of the most powerful countries at this time.Impact: The Allies failed to achieve any of their goals on the first day. Carentan, St. Lô, and Bayeux remained German. Caen a major objective was not taken until July
  • Battle of Bulge

    What Happened: Was the last major German offensive campaign. The surprise attack caught the Allied forces completely off guard. American forces bore the brunt of the attack and incurred their highest casualties for any operation during the war. Why it Happend: Because Germany was having a war with the US.
    Impact: The Unites States lost, with a lot of causalities.
  • Operation Thunderclap

    What Happened:was the code for a cancelled operation planned in August 1944 but shelved and never implemented. But the plan would have never worked
    Why:The plan was a massive attack on Berlin. That would cause 220,000 casualties with 110,000 killed, many of them key Germans, which would shatter German morale
    Impact: The plan wouldn't never worked. They reconsidered it again but once again it was reject.
  • Battle of Ima Jima

    Battle of Ima Jima
    What Happened: Was a major battle in which the U.S. Marines captured the island of Iwo Jima from the Japanese during World War II.
    Why it Happened: The United States were fighting Japan and they had to take down their strongest forts like Iwo Jima. Impact: American won because the Japanese to American death ratio was 3:1. It was clear from the start that Japan was going to lose to island
  • Battle of Okinawa

    Battle of Okinawa
    What Happened: Was a series of battles fought in the Japanese Ryukyu Islands. It was 82 day long battle
    Why it Happened: The Allies were approaching Japan. Okinawa an island only 340 mi Japan, as a base for air operations for the planned invasion of Honshu
    Impact: The battle last 82 days. The Allies counted 110,071 dead bodies. 42,000 to 150,000 local civilians.

    What Happened: The Nazi empire unconditionally surrender their arm forces Why it Happened: Adolf Hitler committed suicide in Berlin on May 7. After that Flensburg government surrendered Reins, France on May 8. Impacts: It officially ended World War 2 on May 9.

    What happened:is a statement that called for the surrender of all Japanese armed forces during World War 2
    Why it Happened:if Japan did not surrender, it would face "prompt and utter destruction"
    Impact: Japan dropped out the war

    Why it Happened: They started to run out of resources. They had lack of money to keep moving forward in the war.
    The Impact: Japanese soldiers starting committing suicide because they were devastated that the back out. Also it help end World War 2.
