    SINGER BUILDING
    The Singer Building was the tallest skyscraper at the beginning of the 20th century, with a height of 186.6m (47 floors above ground). It was located in New York City, on Broadway Avenue, and was demolished 1968.
    Its main purpose was for the construction of offices and was the main center of the financial district for some ages.

  • METROPOLITAN LIFE TOWER

    METROPOLITAN LIFE TOWER
    Its construction was finished one year after the Singer Buildings.
    Its name was given because it was the headquarters of the metropolitan life insurance company. It exists nowadays but occupies the city ranking #49 tallest building in New York City but it is still a national landmark, and it serves as offices and as a hotel.
    The Met Life Tower was the tallest for 5 years.

    Height: 241.4m (57 floors) Fun fact: 34 elevators.
    The building is located in New York City and was finished in 1913 and its main function was to serve as offices and nowadays serves as both offices and residential purposes.
    It has gone under many retrofit processes, the last one started on 2014 and finished earlier this year.

  • THE CHRYSLER BUILDING

    THE CHRYSLER BUILDING
    This building is a "twin tower" sort of, of the Empire State Building. It was built at the same time as The Trump Building. Its name is due to its architect who was WP Chrysler. Another interesting fact is that it gained its title of the tallest building after raised a spire constructed in 90 minutes after building it in secret, winning over the Bank of Manhattan (The Trump Building)

    Its original name was Bank of Manhattan until the Trump Company bought it a few years ago. It was constructed by the Bank of Manhattan itself to serve as offices. It is located in New York City as well and its construction lasted one year only. Nowadays is the #10 tallest building in NYC.

    Fun fact: 36 elevator.
    Style: Neo-gothic style (easily recognized with the tip of the building)

    Fun fact: 102 floors above ground + 73 elevators It is located in the prestigious fifth avenue of NYC, it was always meant to serve as offices. It is considered nowadays as a national landmark and is the #3 tallest building in NYC. It was the tallest building in the world from 1931-1971, the longest duration. It is considered to be the ancestor to all supertall skyscrapers. Fun fact: took less than 14 months.

    ONE WORLD TRADE CENTER
    Commonly known as the twin towers. Has a height of 526.7 with the tip but just taking into account the architectural structure the height was of 417 m. Just one of the twin towers gained the title of being the tallest building in 1972. (110 floors above ground + 99 elevators).
    Construction started in 1966 and was completed in 1972. The building was demolished in 2001 by the terrorist attack in 9/11.

    It is located in Chicago "the windy city". Hs a height of 527m with the tip and 442.1 m architectural structure (108 floors above ground + 104 elevators), it was formerly known as Sears Tower until it was bought by another group that gave it the name of Willis Tower. Construction took 4 years to be done.
    It is still the #1 tallest building in Chicago and #2 in USA.

    Construction lasted six years (from 1992-1998) it is currently the #1 tallest in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, #8 tallest in Asia.
    It consists of two identical buildings connected by the famous sky bridge on the 41st and 42nd floors. Its main purpose is to serve as an offices building.
    Fun fact: first skyscraper not to be only made by steel but also by composite.
