    The Japanese invaded China. Little did they know that this little takeover would turn into a global conflict involivng hundreds of nations. During this occupation they massacred millions of Chinese and raped alot of women. That is why this is known as "The Rape of Nanking".

    A crisis had developed in 1938 by the name of Adolph Hitler. He was slowly annexing land into Germany to make up a master country. The Munich Peace Conference was called so that Hitler could meet with the leaders of Italy, UK, and France. The agreement was that Hitler could annex Czech if he promised to not invade anywhere else. This promise was broken and shattered the world.

    First major campaign to be fought entirely in the air. It was also the largest and most sustained aerial bombing campaign to that date. It was fought between the Luftwaffe and the RAF.

    This was attack was a suprise attack on the military officers of Hawaii. The Japanese needed control of the Pacific and the only thing standong in there way was the naval base of Pearl Harbor. 423 Japanese Zeros took for Pearl Harbor. 2,335 servicemen are killed and 68 civillians or killed. 18 U.S. ships are hit. 1,178 people are wounded. Japanese admiral fears he has awoken a "sleeping Giant". President FDR gives his address to the union saying that the U.S. will enter war.

    Operation Overlord was a joint op between the allied forces. This was prominently a ground force invasion but the sea and air had major roles. At 6:30 am the first of the ships landed and the men were in shock of how much less damage the allies had caused that they thought. Over 9,000 men died on Omaha and Utah beach that day.

    The Conference was at held at the home of the Crown Prince Wilhelm Hohenzollern. The 3 nations represented were Russia, Britain, and the U.S. The goals of the conference also included the establishment of post-war order, peace treaties issues, and countering the effects of war.

    We first tried to persuade the Japanese to surrender unsuccesfully. Even after being told something would happen if they did not, Japan stayed in the fight. A pilot with a plane name the Enola Gay took off for Hiroshima. The bomb was nicknamed "Little Boy". But the devastation was not little by any meanings. 90,00 people are killed instantly, while 76,000 others are left to die a slow miserable death from radioactive pooisoning. This is the only instance of nuclear weaponry to date.
