The Wallkill Zoning Board of Appeals officially bans Woodstock. A few days later, Elliot Tiber of White Lake reads about the ban and invites Woodstock Ventures up to Sullivan County. Tiber has a permit to run an arts festival, and has a friend, Max Yasgur, who owns a dairy farm in Bethel. Lang meets Yasgur in Yasgur's alfalfa field and they seal the $75,000 deal. Bethel town and zoning boards give the green light to stage a three-day concert. Promoters say they're expecting 50,000 people.

A spontaneous concert erupts on the festival site to celebrate the 20th anniversary. It begins when one guy with a guitar showed up. Eventually more than 20,000 people were there, including Hendrix's dad Al and Wavy Gravy. The reunion stretches for seven days over the course of which attracts about 200,000 onlookers. This would be the largest of several informal reunions at the site for several years.
