Windows system evolution

  • MS-DOS

    MS-DOS
    MS-DOS was the beginning of the great operating system we khow today by "Microsoft Windows". Until then we could only use windows command line to use the computer. The last version of MS-DOS was released in 14-09-2000.
  • Windows 1

    Windows 1
    Windows 1 was a big step for Microsoft, we passed from using the windows command line to a UI (user interface).
  • Windows 95

    Windows 95
    Windows 95 appeard in August 1995 and with it came the first Start button and Start menu. It cames with the concept of "plug and play", you could connect a peripheral and the operating system finds the appropriate drivers for it and makes ir work. (but it didn't always work).
  • Windows 98

    Was released in June 98, it was built on windows 95 and with some apps like: Outlook Express, Windows Address Book, Microsoft Chat and NetShow Player, that was replaced by Windows Media Player 6.2 in Windows 98 second edition in 1999.
  • Windows XP

    Windows is one of the best windows versions ever, was released in October 2001. Was also the longest running microsoft operating system, 13 years from is original release date, XP was still used in around 430 million computers after it been discontinued.
  • Windows Vista

    Windows Vista
    Windows vista was one of the worst windows ever. As for the interface it was new and innovative thanks to the interface known as "Windows Aero".
    With the new Vista, Microsoft wanted to fix what was one of the most criticized defects of its predecessor, such as its security and the fact that it was weighed according to the minimum requirements of the time. All of this has caused users to view windows vista as a downgrade.
  • Windows 7

    Windows 7
    For many people, Windows 7 is still the best ever (some say it's even better than 10). Its focus was to be clean, efficient and practical to use. Something windows vista couldn't do. Windows 7 was a big hit at the time. More than 100 million copies have been sold worldwide. By 2012 around 630 million copies had been sold worldwide and by 2018 it was considered the most popular operating system of all.
  • Windows 8

    Windows 8 was another disaster on the part of Microsoft. This OS tried to join the experience of use between computers. Microsoft abandoned things that users liked like: The start menu appears all over the screen.
  • Windows 8.1

    Windows 8.1
    After a year microsoft updated windows 8 to windows 8.1, brought back the start button and set the desktop as the default screen.
  • Windows 10

    Microsoft did a good job with windows 10, it improved the interface and recovered the start menu in its entirety, but more modernized. Your experience has become more pleasant for both keyboard/mouse use and touch screen use.
  • Windows 11

    Windows 11
    Windows 11 arrived by surprise in June 2021. windows 11 would be a major renovation of the windows family, new look and functionality. Although it still has some bugs, it promises to be a great operating system.
