    The Roomba hits the market

    Colin Angle, Helen Greiner and Rodney Brooks designed the Roomba a self cleaning robot as the company iRobot's first commercial product. The Roomba opened the door for robotics being used in people's own homes and is a pioneer when it comes to automation being available to people. Today there are American restaurants that utilize robots to help serve and robots in grocery stores to detect spills.

    Nicholas Negroponte started a Non-profit with the goal of providing affordable computers to children to use for education. This project garnered a lot of attention from Bill gates of Microsoft. The develop of affordable laptops led to the availability and affordability of technology for more people.

    Under the direction of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Amazon designed and created the first electronic reader. The electronic reader allowed users to store up to 200 titles in its original release. The Kindle helped popularize electronic books taking physicals copies off the market more and more each year. The Kindle also stored audio books also helping people to turn to electronic ways to consume content.

Markets now desired light weight devices with the same capabilities as heavier designs. For years Intel and it's competitors in chip manufacturing have made attempts to make smaller and smaller chips the race for the smallest computer chip will not be slowing down anytime soon.
