Willem Janzoon was born in Amsterdam and was an orphan.

Willem sailed from the Netherlands for the third time. The ship he sailed on was called The Duyfken ( which meant Little Dove )

From Bantam they sailed the Dufken on the western coast of new Guinea. They went across Arafura sea on the Eastern end. On the 26th of Febuary, at Pennefather, Janzoon made landfall on the western shore of Cape York in Queensland near a modern town of Weipa.

Janzoon had just returned from the Netherlands thinking that the south coast of New Guinea had joined with the land which he went to but the Dutch people say the maps reproduced this error for several years.

Around 1617 or 1618, they appointed as a council of India. As admiral, he served the Dutch defense fleet. Willem Janzoon was awarded a gold chain which was worth 1,000 guilders.

Janzoon went back to Bativia in June and soon afterwards, as admiral of a fleet, went on a mission to India.

He sailed to go to Holland and on the 16th of July he reported on the state of the Indies at a place called the Hague.

Finnally, he was about sixty and willing to retire from his hard and succesful life towards his country though he was thought of when he died in 1630.
