Electricity
Alessandro Volta's battery is credited as one of the first electrochemical cells. It consists of two electrodes: one made of zinc, the other of copper. The electrolyte is either sulfuric acid mixed with water or a form of saltwater brine. I am thankful that electricity enables humans to do so many things such as create timelines like this one for class projects referencing the moment in history that started the wheel turning to a modern age like today. -

Wireless Networks
Being able to compute remotely is an incredible convenience. From the first cell phone invented in 1973 to the proposed development of "hot spots" in 1993, the changes in wireless technology have been positive. Devices are smaller and easier to use, while the power and scope of the remote hot spots have widened immensely. In my life I find myself very dependent on my cell phone and all of the applications and tools it has. -
