Many Americans traveled in wagons, horses, or on foot to Oregon country in route to start a new life. Oregon had many natural resources, trade opportunities, farm land, a place to teach Christianity, and a place to fur trap. This journey usually took about 5 months from Independence Pass, Missouri, and through the Rockies.
