    The Battle of the Coral Sea was a battle that took place mostly in the air with airplanes and different planes. It was a very intense battle, many planes getting destroyed. For example, the Japanese destroyed the Lexington and badlyy damaged the Yorktown. Also, The Batlle of the Coral Sea launched aircraft from aircraft carriers to bomb enemy ships more than 70 miles away. In conclusion, the battle prevented the Japanese from invading Austrailia.     opened up the beggining of the battle of midway. fought entirely from the air,just like the battle at coral sea. the sinking of four japanese carriers combined with the loss of some 250 planes and most of japans skilled naval pilots was a devistating blow to the japanese navy. americas victory happened becasue of commander joseph rochefort, who broke the japanese code JN-25 in time to learn crucial information before the attack.     Since the win at Midway allowed the Allies to take the offensive in the Pacific, their main first goal was to capture Guadacanal in the Solomon Islands. There, Japanese built an airfield to try to threaten close by Allied Bases. IN the Battle of Guadacanal, it provided the Marines with the first jungle warfare.     The battle of Iwo Jima was a battle that lasted from February 19-March 26 1945. America tried to capture the island from Japan because of its two airfields. American forces suffered an estimated 25,000 casualties. The Japanese were heavily fortified but the Americans had extensive naval and ground support and won the battle.
