    In 1906, four year old Walt Disney and his family moved to Marceline, Missouri. Walt's dad ,Elias Disney, had bought a farm to work on. Walt and his one brother, Roy, couldn't wait to move. His other two older brothers wanted to stay in Chicago. Baby Ruth did not care what area they were in. Elias, Herbert, and Raymond did not stay on the train. Elias wanted to make sure that his family was settled on the train.

    When Walt turned six on December 5, 1907. He was expected to go to school. His family wanted him to get an education and be successful. He loved to draw and he ran out of paper a lot.

    Walt turned nine on December 5, 1910. Walt now had more responsibilities on the farm. Now, he could milk the cows and take care of the pigs. He named a pig, Porky! Walt took better care of Porky compared to the other pigs.

    Walt's father got very sick with a disease called Diphtheria. This caused him to be too tired and weak to work on the farm. Since, Herbert and Raymond moved back to Chicago, that left Walt and Roy to do all of the work on the farm. Mr. Disney had to sell the farm and move to Kansas City. At least Mr. Disney knew that he could get a job at the Jelly Factory. They held an auction on Tuesday January 10, 1911 to sell all of the stock and equipment.

    On February 12, 1914, Walt's school, McKinley High School, was celebrating Abe Lincoln's Birthday. Walt wanted to dress up as Abe and give the Gettysburg Address. The principal told Walt's parents that he could be an actor.

    Walt finally turned 17 on December 5, 1918. Walt would now be able to apply for a job and make money. He has been waiting for this year for a while.

    Walt applied for a job with the American Red Cross Association and got the job. On November 11, 1918, Walt was in South Beach, Connecticut, awaiting shipments from over seas for the last duty of the day.

    When walked home from school and he saw a stray dog on the street, he would bring it home and put it in his yard. When Walt would get home from school, his dad would have already gotten rid of the dog. On the way to school, Walt found a baby mouse in the snow. He took care of it and finally let it go in a field after the snow melted on July 8, 1923. He fed Mortimer a bigger piece of cheese that day.

    Since Walt was a part of the American Red Cross Association, when the Allied Invasion of France began on July 6, 1944, Walt had to take a trip to France to help the American people that were fighting for their country. Walt decided that this was his last duty with the American Red Cross Association.

    Walt's dream had finally come true on July 17, 1955. Disneyland had finally opened in Anaheim, California. Then Walt said, "Disney land will never be completed." That is still true today! He has been hoping for this since he was little.

    Walt loved Abe Lincoln when he was younger. He ever dressed up as Abe and gave the Gettysburg Address on his birthday. in commemoration to Mr. Lincoln, Walt added "Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln" to his park on September 4,1957.

    On March 18, 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson awarded Walter Disney the "Presidential Medal of Freedom!" that is the highest decoration the United states Government can bestow upon a civilian.
