AP World Unit 6 Timeline
Although many conflicts from wars from 1914 to present had continued till this day like Partition of Insia and the Korean War, the changes outweighted the continuities, from events such as World War 1, 9/11, and World War 2. -
World War 1
A global war that took place mainly in Europe from 1914 to 1918.The was had left millions of people dead and had re-shaped the world. War started between two countries and had spread rapidly to Germany, Russia, Great Britian and France. The war had brought changes to the world like: the way countries negotiated, changed US foreign policy and the way wars were fought, from using guns to the introduction to tanks. -
Invasion of Poland
The invasion of Poland had been a pact with Germany and Soviet Union, before the invasion Nazy Germany and Soviet Union had signed a non-agresion treaty. The first attack was by Germany by an aircraft bomb and the second by Soviet Union from the east. After losing thousands of troops and civilians, the Polish had surrendered. This shows change over time because after Hitler kills himself, Poland becomes its own. -
World War 2
World World 2 lasted from 1939 to 1945, involving most of the world and the two forms of military groups, the Allie and the Axis. World War 2 had changed the lives of many women, leading them to the right movement and legal equality for wome, average wages had increased, millions of jobs were created and unemployment was low. -
Hiroshima and Nagasaki
The US enterned the war with Japan after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941. On August 6, 1945, the US an atomic bomb weighting 20,000 tons on the city of Hiroshima. Three days later another bomb weighting over 10,000 pounds was dropped on the city of Nagasaki. The bombing caused huge population and property loses. This caused a huge change in Japan, causing health problems, radiation and population lose. -
Partition of India
Partition of India was the division of British India into three independent states which took place in 1947. This is neither a victory for British or the three states, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Millions of people left their homes, thousands and women and young girls were raped and killed. This is a continuity because India still remains free from British and is split into three parts, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. -
Korean War
Korean War lasted till July 27, 1953. North Korea and South split in two after World War Two. The war caused a tention because both leaders of the two states claimed as the ruler of Korea. America supported South Koread who were anti-communist and USSR supported North Korea who were communist. The Korean War shows continuity because Korea is still split into two, North and South, one communist and the other anti-communist. -
Indo Pak War of 1965
Indo-Pakistan War of 1965 was betweeen Pakistan and India. The war become to be known as the Second Kashmir War fought by Pakistan and India over the disputed region of Kashmir and the first war being fought in 1947. Much of the war being fought along the INternational Border between India and Pakistan. The war brought change to the two countries, causing them damage and lose, leaving tanks destroyed, having loses in people and aircrafts. -
Iran-Iraq War
Iran-Iraq was the longest conventional war between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Iraq from 1980 to 1988. This shows change because war had left more than 400 billion dollars in damage (mostly to oil facilities) and had twice as many troops killed on both sides. -
Persian Gulf War
Iraq had invaded Kuwait on August 2, 1990 by the order from Saddam Hussein. Kuwait had borrowed billions of dollars agaist the war with Iran, but they were unanle to pay. This shows change because Iraq had obtained the control of Kuwaiti oil fields and had reestablished itself as a major oil producing country. -
9/11
Osama Bid Laden sent 19 hijackers to the US to take over four planes. One hit Pentagon, two hit the World Trade Center Towers and the last one was downed in Pennsylvania, which was on its way to the White House. This event killed over 3,000 people both adult and kids during the event. 9/11 caused a huge change into the world, especially on suspicion. Airport security and laws have got stricker, more fear, and more importantly, many people started judging the whole religion because of some men.
