    Beagle Voyage

    In 1832, 22 year old Darwin started a 5 year voyage in which he would go across the globe to study nature. However, he would stop at various places for undetermined amount of times to study. This led for him only being on the ship for a total of 18 months. In his voyage, he did not only study nature and fossils. He also studied the human race and the difference between a civilized man and a "savage" man. He compared it as worse than a domestic animal versus a wild animal.

    Charles Darwin major key event was his discovery of scientific theory of evolution by natural selection.
  • On the Origin of Species

    In 1850, Darwin wrote a very famous book called "On the Origin of Species". He described his theory in this book and what brought him to this theory. He described evolution as "descent with modification". This was the idea that species change over time and that we share common ancestors. He had proposed natural selection. In short, this meant that only the strong will survive and overcome. It also speculated that over time these traits will be more inheritable and continue to evolve.
