On June 6, 1944 the Allies landed on the beaches of Normandy to begin to take back France and defeat Germany. It was code named Overlord. This was one of the largest sea invasions in world history. This connected to Dunkirk when the trapped British and French soldiers barely escaped the Nazi Army in 1940.
