    The Magnavox Odyessy was the first home video game console. It was developed by Ralph Baer under Sanders associates and released in 1972. It was what spurred on people to begin making commercialized video games.

    Atari was created by Nolan Bushnell in 1972, inspired by the Magnavox. It was the first video game company, and it was most known for the products Pong and the Atari 2600. Due to mismanagement, it eventually fell out of favor.

    Pac-man was an arcade game created by Namco in 1980. This is considered one of the most popular arcade games. It's one of the highest-grossing games of all time.

    This game was created by Nintendo in 1981. It is considered to be one of the first games with some sort of visual storytelling. It's protagonist, Mario, and the antagonist, Donkey Kong, later become very popular.

    The video game crash was the period wherein the video game industry had a great recession. It is mainly attributed to the over-saturation of low-quality games and increasing interest in personal computers. It led to bankruptcy of various companies.

    Tetris was designed by Alexey Pajitnov in 1984. It has been considered one of the most influential and well-known games due to it's simplicity. It brought the industry back somewhat.

    The second game series created by Shigeru Miyamoto; it involved the story of a boy named Link in a fictional land called Hyrule. This game is considered to be influential due to it's advanced story. It offered more to connect with players, which was new for it's time.

    This game was developed of id Software. It is considered the pioneer of first-person shooter games. At the time, most video games were third-person, so this was revolutionary at the time.

    This game was developed by id Software in 1993. It was very popular in the late 90's, and was the follow-up to the game Wolfenstein 3D. Due to its graphic imagery, it was very controversial with adults.

    The Playstation was developed by Sony initially in 1994. This console is considered important because the demographic it appealed to (18-20 yr. olds). The games were slightly more mature and tackled themes previously unheard of in video gaming.

    The ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board) was formed in 1994. It is an organization created to rate games based on it's suitability for an age group. It was first formed in response to hysteria over violent content in video games at the time.

    This game was created by DMA design in 2001. This game is considered important because it offered more revolutionary, open-ended gameplay. It also had a more detailed story compared to others at the time.

    This game was developed by the U.S. Army in 2002. It was created to show gamers what it's like to be a soldier. Despite it's violence, it did not receive much backlash.
