Underdogs in the league, Vidarbha led by Faiz Fazal beat Delhi by 9 wickets in the finals. This was also their first appearance in the final of the tournament. They also beat Rest of India to win the Irani Trophy for the 2017-2018 season.

Second time in the finals, against another underdog team Saurashtra. The Vidarbha team led by Faiz Fazal made it two wins in two finals. They also defended their Irani Trophy title to make it to two Irani Trophies in as many attempts. They became the sixth team in the history to defend their Ranji title and Irani title.
