Baltimore County police received a call regarding a suspicious vehicle near Ebenezer Road in the Essex area of Baltimore County. A witness reportedly asked the suspect about a woman in the back seat of the car he was driving. The suspect allegedly said it was his mother, who was suffering from an illness. The witness recorded the license plate number and called police.

Between 7 and 8 a.m., a man allegedly hiding in the garage of her Clover Street home forced Vi Ripken into her 1998 Lincoln Town Car at gunpoint.

This has been a very trying time for our family, but we are grateful and relieved that mom is back with us, safe and healthy. We want to thank everyone for their tremendous support, especially all of the law enforcement agencies that worked so hard and quickly. Baltimore County police issued a missing person alert for Vi Ripken: Baltimore County Police are asking for the public’s help locating Violet Roberta Ripken, 74, of the 400 block of Clover Street, 21001. Mrs. Ripken is a white female, 5’5”, 135 pounds, with gray hair. She may be wearing a white blouse. Mrs. Ripken owns a silver 1998 Lincoln Towncar, with Maryland registration SMR308. The vehicle was last seen in the Ebenezer Road area of Essex at approximately 8:15 p.m. on July 24."
