    this happend after the civil war when technology was changing. New machines were invented like steamboats, Trains, and also new weapons for the war.

    Abraham Lincoln was elected president in 1861-1865and was on a mission to stop slavery in the south. So the north and the south went to war.

    The Red Scare started in 1917 when Russia had a revolution. Russia was then called the Soviet Union, and the government turned into communists.The US was scared that communists would try to change the government here

    Was a major decision of the United States Supreme Court that declared state laws establishing separate public schools for black and white students unconstitutional. The decision overturned the Plessy v. Ferguson decision of 1896 which allowed state-sponsored segregation.

    Rosa Parks, a 42-year-old African-American seamstress at Montgomery Fair got on the same bus as she did every night in Montgomery, Alabama. When the bus became full she refused to give up her seat to a white man. She was arrested and fined for breaking the laws of segregation
  • Freedom riders

    The first freedom riders consisted of 7 blacks and 6 whites who boarded a bus to Birmingham and Anniston, Alabama to enforce the new bus terminal law that stated bus terminals could not be segregated. The buses were attacked and the people beaten.

    Martin Luther King Jr. is assassinated by James Earl Ray at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee
