Released in April of 2000, USB 2.0 was considered the Hi-Speed USB and had a rate of data tranfer of up to 480 Mbit/s.

In octobot of 2000, Mini-A and Mini-B USB connectors were introduced.

In April of 2007 the Micro USB cable and connector was released. The Micro USB cable is used for charging of most cell phones now.

USB 3.0 is known as "SuperSpeed". USB 3.0 has a speed of 5 Gbit/s! USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with USB 2.0

Press released USB 3.1 in January in 2013 annoucing it now has a speed of 10 Gbit/s..This now puts it at the same speed as ThunderBolt. Known as "SuperSpeed+"
