  President Bush gives Saddam and his sons an option to leave Iraq, or go to war. The United Sates invaded, taking over Saddam's government.

  Insurgency builds up, leading to the rise of ISIS. ISIS seizes the city of Mosul and other important cities. The US conducts air raids. ISIS declares itself as a caliphate named Islamic State. In 2015, Russia joins the Syrian leader in effort to run ISIS out of Syria. The US has recenty deployed 50 special for units to Syria.
