Northwest Ordinance
It established a government for the Northwest territory. As well as admitting a new state to the Union. slavery was abolished in all of the Northwest territory. -
George Washington Elected
He was elected in 1789. He had 69 electoral votes and was 57 years old and John Adams became his Vice President. -

The Bill of Rights is the first 10 amendments. The Bill of rights guarantees civil rights such as freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom of press. They were designed to protect basic human rights. -

The Whiskey Rebellion was a tax protest during the presidency of George Washington. It enforced the idea that the new government had the right to levy a particular tax that would impact citizens in all states. -

Admitted Missouri as a slave state and Maine as a free state. It was repealed by the Kansas Nebraska act. It also banned slavery from any future territories or states north of Missouri's southern border. -
Monroe Doctrine
The Monroe Doctrine warns European nations that the United States would not tolerate further colonization or puppet monarchs. The Monroe Doctrine was a warning not to interfere in the Western Hemisphere. -

Idea that America is destined by God to expand its borders. It was also that White Americans were superior to and meant to settle the entirety of America. -
Texas Annexed
It occurred on December 29th of 1845. This made Texas part of the Union. -
compromise of 1850
A total of 5 laws that dealt with slavery and territorial expansion. The compromise declared California as a free state. -
Kansas Nebraska Act
The Kansas Nebraska Act allowed settlers of a territory to decide whether slavery would be allowed within a new state's borders. it also repealed the Missouri Compromise. -
Homestead Act
Provided land for Americans including freed slaves. They were given the land for free if that person lived on the land for five years and improved the land by building a home and producing a crop -
Sherman Anti trust Act
Outlawed monopolistic business practices. It also prohibits trusts. It doesn't prohibit all acts of trade only unreasonable ones. -
17th Amendment
The Amendment provided for the direct election of U.S. senators by the voters of the states. -
22nd Amendment
The 22nd amendment limited the number of times a person could run for office. So that one president couldn't stay in for an extended period of time. It allowed for a candidate to get elected two times.
