    University Of Georgia

    The University of Georgia was chartered in 1785. People came because there was a collage and people follow where the population goes (Ga Textbook).

    Cotton Gin

    The cotton gin was used to remove seeds from the cotton fibers. Since the war ended, they had to recover from the war and it increased the cotton production and the slave population( Ga Textbook).

    Yazoo Land Fraud

    Legislators were selling land illegally, so they agreed to remove the natives from Ga. Many citizens were outraged about it. Since it removed the natives, it opened up a lot of land for the citizens and lead to the Trail of Tears. (Ga Textbook)
  • The Headright System

    The Headright system was a way that the government transferred land to citizens, and was only sold to white men. The Creek had to give up their land, so the citizens gained land, and It was a way to recover from the Yazoo land fraud. ( Ga Textbook)

    Land lotteries

    Six land lotteries were held between 1805-1832 and only men, women, orphans, and widows could win land. Georgia wanted to have a different process because of the Yazoo land fraud (New Ga Encyclopedia, Ga Textbook).
  • William McIntosh

    William McIntosh signed the Treaty of Indian Springs, and that meant the Creek had to give up their land. He was a Creek leader, and he gave up his peoples land for his own wealth, so that meant the Creek had to find new land. (Ga textbook)
  • Railroads

    Railroads were chartered in 1832, and was created to transport cotton a better way to Augusta. Since railroads was a good source of transportation, towns were built around them (Ga textbook).
  • John Ross

    In 1835, Ross kept getting lawsuits, so the natives had to fight for the land. Then the government was after them, so they had to move (Ga textbook).
