  • Roanoke Colony

    Roanoke Colony
    There were a few attempts before July of 1587 that did not last very long. John White, the Governor of the settlement, brought 120 men, women, and children to establish the frist permanent English settlement. On August 18th, 1587 the first English child was born in the new world and her name was Viriginia Dare.

    This was a set of laws passed by British Parliament that required every American colonist to pay taxes on every printed paper that they used. Examples of printed paper include; legal documents, licenses, newspapers, Ship's papers. This legislative act angered the colonists who believed that it was immoral and coined the famous phrase "no taxation without representation".

  • The Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre
    On March 5th, 1770 there was a public fight between a Patriot mob and British Soldiers that resulted in 3 people being killed and 8 others were wounded. The American Colonists were extremely unhappy with the way that England had chosen to govern the American Colonies.
  • Ratification of the Bill of Rights

    Ratification of the Bill of Rights
    The Bill of Rights, which included 10 amendments was a piece of legislature that was added to the Constitution of the United States of America. The Bill stated rights that every American citizen was entitled to. For example, the 1st amendment allows all US citizens the freedom of speech.

    A formal arrangement between the United States and France that awarded the U.S. approximately 827,000 acres of land west of the Mississippi River for the price of 15 million dollars.
  • Battle of Gettysburg

    A pivotal battle in the American Civil War where General Robert E. Lee (Confederate) fought Major General George G. Meade(Union). An estimated 51,000 total soldiers died during this battle. The battle of Gettysburg had the most casualities of all the battles that were fought during the Civil War.

    The 16th president of the United States was shot by John Wilkes Booth while attending a play at Ford's Theatre in Washington, D.C.
  • Surrender at Appomattox Courthouse

    The United States decides to drop its netural stance and enters into the first World War. President Woodrow Wilson asks Congress for a Declaration of War.
  • The Attack on Pearl Harbor

    The Attack on Pearl Harbor
    The Japanese army carries out a surprise attack on U.S. Naval vessels that are stationed at Pearl Harbor (Hawaii). On December 8th, 1941 President Franklin D. Roosevelt declared that the attach on Pearl Harbor was a "day that will live in infamy". Afterwards the United States enters in World War II.
