    The navigation acts were a series of acts that were issued in the years 1651, 1660, and 1663. These acts taxed the colonists on anything they imported. This caused the colonists to hate the British rule.

    Thomas Jefferson, was the third president of the USA.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Date Issued: October 7th 1763
    This law said that no one could settle pas the proclamation line which was at the Appalachian Mountains.
  • Sons of Liberty

    The Sons of Liberty was an organization that was created in the Thirteen American Colonies. The secret society was formed to protect the rights of the colonists and to fight taxation by the British government.
  • Stamp Act

    The Stamp act was when a new tax was imposed on every piece of printed paper.
  • Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre, was when British redcoats opened fire on a group of civilians who were rioting. This was a major turning point because this act showed how the British didn't like the colonists.

    Lexington and Concord, was a series of battles fought between the colonists and the British redcoats. But, what makes this battle special is this was when the colonist had their first major victory over the British.
  • Olive Branch Petition

    This was a petition adopted by the 2nd continental congress. It was an attempt to give the colonists rights but to keep them as a part of Britain.
  • Trenton and Princeton

    Trenton and Princeton, was a battle fought by George Washington and his men. This was when Washington defeated some Hessian mercenaries.
  • Saratoga

    This was a battle fought in the fall of 1777. Where, the British won a small, but needed victory over the colonists. This was a turning point for the British, as it confirmed that they could beat the colonists new guerrilla warfare tactics.
  • Articles of Confederation

    The Articles of Confederation, were the first laws of the newly formed United States of America. These laws were not kept for long due to problems that arose, very early on. This was a major turning point for the American people because they could govern themselves.
  • Yorktown

    This was a battle fought between, George Washington and his 17,000 men and General Lord Charles Cornwallis, and his 9,000 men. This was one of the biggest and most influential battles of the revolution.

    The Treaty of Paris was a treaty between the United States and Britain. This was the treaty that ended the revolutionary war.

    Shays Rebellion was a group of protests that were against the large amount of debt that farmers were dealing with. This group was not well trained and was quickly crushed in the winter of 1787 by the government.
