    Matthew Perry led his ships to Tokyo Bay seeking to establish trade between the U.S. and Japan. The United States opened trade with Japan because they took under consideration that they could open regular trades with them. Opening trade with Japan benefited the U.S. with Economic reasons, this caused the U.S. to motivate North America to journey across the Pacific Ocean.
  • United States Purchases Alaska

    United States Purchases Alaska
    The U.S. purchased Alaska in the year of 1867 by a treaty ratified by the U.S. Senate. The cost the United States spent on Alaska was 7.2 million dollars. At the time, Russia was facing a war with Britain that would allow the British to seize Alaska.
