  • D-Day

    D-Day was the battle against the allied tropes against Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy in France. General Dwight Eisenhower declared that they would accept nothing but victory. The attack cost many allied lives as 9,000 died in the attack. However, their sacrifice allowed for the allied tropes to have access to Europe and defeat Hitler.
  • Election of 1944

    President Roosevelt made history when he defeated republican candidate Robert Dewy in the 1944 election. This made Roosevelt be the only president to hold office for more then two terms.
  • Roosevelt Passes Away

    The United States was stunned when President Roosevelt passes away suddenly. A mourning vice president Harry Truman took over the presidency.
  • Germany Surrenders

    On May 7th, 1945, General Alfred Jodl from Germany officially surrendered, ending the second world war in Europe.
  • Atomic Bombing of Hiroshima

    President Truman was weary of war dragging on for years between the U.S and Japan, so after realizing that Japan was not going to surrender, Truman made the hard decision to drop an atomic bomb on Hiroshima. The bomb instantly killed 70,000 people and another 100,000 died in the days following from radiation and burns.
  • Atomic Bombing of Nagasaki

    On August 9th 1945, a second atomic bomb was dropped on Japan. This time the bomb killed 80,000 people.
  • Japan Surrenders

    Five days after the second atomic bomb was dropped, Japan officially surrendered, this meant that the second world war was over for the United States.
  • United Nations is created

    In order to avoid another world war and to promote peaceful relations between all nations, 51 countries joined the United Nations after world war two.
  • Election of 1948

    Democratic President defeated republican candidate Robert Dewy for the presidency.
