  • Fugitive Slave Law

    Laws passed by the United States congress to enforce that salves who escaped from one state to another state or territory must return to where they originally were.
  • Missouri Compromise

    Missouri compromise was a compromise in which Missouri came into the Union as a slave state and Maine came in as a free state.
    This was a compromise in which slavery was not forced on Maine and that Missouri could be considered a slave state in the Union.
  • Monroe Doctrine

    Was a U.S. foreign policy regauarding foreign nations that if they intervened within the Northern or Southern states in any way it would be seen as an act of aggression and most likely result in war.
  • Battle of the Alamo

    This was a war between U.S. immigrants and Mexico in which a battle had taken place within Texas for the state of Texas eventually the war resulted in death for both sides but most of the U.S. immigrants in the war had been killed but luckily a U.S. military arrived defeating the Mexican army resulting in control of the Alamo which led to the country of Texas thereafter eventually becoming a state of the U.S.
  • Panic of 1837

    This was caused due to Previous if not the current President of the time President Jackson going against U.S. Banks and eventually leading to them being closed down as a result this led to a panic in which those who had used the bank lost all their funds basically hit the U.S. economy.
  • Trail of Tears

    The Trail of Tears was a policy created by Andrew Jackson in which Natives were forced to be removed from their land.This was important because due to this policy many Natives had ended dying during the Trail of Tears which was basically a relocation of Native land.
  • Sutter's Fort

    Sutters Fort was basically an Agricultural and trade colony located near the Mexican Alta.This was basically one of the first trade locations and rest locations ever.This was an impact and allowed many new people to take a step into this direction and build forts similiar to Sutters.
  • Pre-Emption Act

    Law passed by the congress in which responded to the western States demands that squatters be allowed to pre-empt land.
    This was important because pioneers often settled on land before it could be sold by the government.
  • Bear Flag Revolt

    This was a rebellion in which a small group of American settlers rebelled against the Mexican Government .This has importance because it led to Califronia becoming its own nations but from there it became a state of the United States the reason for that was because it was occcupied by the U.S. Army.
  • US - Mexican War

    This was a between the United States and Mexico for land.This was important because it led to the U.S. victory and the gadsden purchase.
  • Compromise of 1850

    A package of five separate bills passed by the congress in 1850 this basically settled an argument between Slave States and Free States.
  • Gadsden Purchase

    Was the result of the Mexcian American War, this was basically the purchase of Land from Mexico instead of ensuring complete rights over the land.This was important because it basically patched up the bad terms between the U.S. and Mexico slowly.
  • Bleeding Kansas

    This was a basically a continuous war of political confrontation which involved free states and slave states.This was important because it marked the start of the Civil War.
  • Dred Scott Decision

    Dredd Scott moved to the free states with his Owner who later died which resulted in him being forced to go back to slave states to work because congress established that because he was not born in a free state he could not be free.
  • Harper's Ferry

    An attempt by a white abolitionist by the name of John Brown to start an armed slave revolt in 1859 by taking an arsenal at harpers ferry in Virginia.This was also another event that led to the Civil War.

    Texas on February 1st, 1861
  • Civil War (beginning and end dates)

    This was the start of War between Northern and Southern states for both the freedom of slaves and equal rigths and opportunity as well as Uniting the states together.
  • Virignia Sucession

    Virginia on April 17th, 1861
  • Arkansas Sucession

    Arkansas on May 6th, 1861
  • North Carolina Sucession

    North Carolina on May 20th, 1861
  • Tennessee Sucession

    Tennessee on June 8th, 1861
  • Emancipation Proclamation

    This stated that all person who were reguarded as slaves in rebellion states fight back to help the cause of the Northern States goals.This was important because it marked the step to freedom for slaves.
  • Gettsyburg

    The battle of Gettysburg was the turning point of the Civil War this was basically the victory for the Northern States.This was important because it marked the freedom of states and slaves.
  • Gettysburg Address

    This was a powerful speech given by Abraham Lincoln in which spoke about the great nation that had been built and would continue being built.It delivered a powerful, emotional and simple message to the audienceand readers that there was still much more work to do and that it was up to them to build this great nation even further.
  • 13th Amendment

    Ths stated that "Neither Slavery nor Involuntary servitude, accept as a punishment for crime, where of the party shall have been duly convicted."This was a step farther towards completely getting rid of slavery.
  • Civil War (beginning and end dates)

  • 14th Amendment

    This granted citizenship to all people who were born and naturalized within the United States.This basically meant they could not be forced out of the United States because they were now considered citizens of the United States.
  • 15th Amendment

    This gave all African American men the right to vote, and could not be denied that right.This bascially swayed the voting system drastically.
