By early 1929, people across the United States were scrambling to get into the stock market. The profits seemed so assured that even many companies placed money in the stock market. On March 25, 1929, the stock market suffered a mini-crash. As prices began to drop, panic struck across the country.

After the crash unemployment in Australia more than doubled to twenty-one per cent in mid-1930, and reached its peak in mid-1932 when almost thirty-two per cent of Australians were out of work. Due to the Great Depression, many people lost their homes and many other things.

It was the most world spread war in History, with more than 100 million people serving military units.On 1 September 1939 Germany invaded Poland and two days later Britain and France declared war on Germany. Australia also entered the war on the 3rd of September, following the British. The war ended on 14 August 1945 when Japan surrendered, effectively ending the War.

    LinkThe Japanese launched a surprise air attack on the U.S Naval Base at Pearl Harbour in Hawaii. After two hours of bombing, more than 2,300 Americans were dead. The attack sank or beached a total of twelve ships and damaged nine others. Days later, Japans allies Germany and Italy declared war on the United States. The United States then joined into World War 2.

    LinkThe Darwin bombings was an event of which the Japanese mounted two air attacks on Darwin. This event was Largest Japanese attack since Pearl Harbor on 7th December 1941. The attack was planned by the commander who led the attack on Pearl Harbour. The first attack was just before 10am when heavy bombers bombed the harbour and town. Twenty military aircrafts were destroyed, eight ships at anchor in the harbour were sunk, and military facilities in Darwin were destroyed.

    LinkThe Berlin Wall was built in 1961 to divide Germany to East and West Germany until 1989. The Berlin Wall was 155km long and 12 ft high made from cement and wire. It was the boundary between democracy and Communism during the Cold War. After the Berlin wall came down, both East and West German became one on October 3rd 1990.
