Introduction: (Abiotic Factors of an Ecosystem)

The ocean has many abiotic and biotic factors. For example, temperature, oxygen, and nutrients are abiotic factors of the ocean. Biotic factors include fish, sharks, and jellyfish.
  • Burning of Fossil Fuels

The burning of fossil fuels has damaged the ocean a lot. It has made the ocean much hotter, already damaging it. Then, coral reefs and fish are affected by the heating of fossil fuels, too because they deteriorate with heat.
  • Increased Carbon Dioxide

Increased carbon dioxide goes hand in hand with global warming and the burning of fossil fuels. Burning fossil fuels causes increased carbon dioxide. All the carbon in the air is what causes additional heat.
  • Dissolved Carbon Dioxide decreased pH of the ocean causing acidification

The Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere goes into the ocean and causes it to become more acidic. This is what damages the ocean. The acidity hurts fish and causes coral reefs to bleach, killing them.
  • Ocean acidification damaged corals and other calcifiers weakening their shells, preventing their growth, and causing them to die.

Calcifiers like coral get bleach their shells sometimes in summer because of the heat. Then they regrow it and replete the shell. The acidification causes it to start much earlier, killing them.
  • Summary

Global warming is hurting our environment a lot. Especially the ocean. This causes many animals and organisms to be hurt by the heat in some way, ultimately killing the world slowly.
