    Hitler attempts to overthrow the German government.
  • Hitler on trial

    uses trial to give huge speech further blaming Jews problems of Germany. Served 9 months in jail.

    Holocaust

    The holocaust was a time where 11 million people died. Nazis were Hitlers political party. Over 6 million Jewish people died. Happened after Germany lost World War 2 and were struggling. Jewish family were forced into ghettos and then sent to concentration camps.
  • Reichstag Fire

    Hitler blames communists for fire.
  • Enabling Act

    gives power of decision making to Hitler. within a few months, all other political parties besides the Nazis were eliminated. This allowed Hitler to get rid of all his rivals. At this time, we see on official boycott of Jewish businesses as well.
  • Nuremberg Laws

    Nazis needed a way to identify Jews so they could discriminate them. Nuremberg Laws defined people with 3 or 4 Jewish grandparents as ¨Jewish¨ and 1 or 2 as ¨mixed blood¨. Denied citizenship. Forbade Jews from marrying non-Jews. cannot fly national flags. punishments include fines, imprisonment, and hard labor.

    Kristallnocht also known as the night of broken glass, was a pogrom again the Jews.
  • World War 2

    Germany invades Poland which has 3 million Jews in its population.
  • Ghettos

    Nazis begin rounding up millions of Jews and confining then to ghettos. Largest Ghettos were in cities like Warsaw or Lodz in Poland.
  • Euthanasia Program

    systematically killing people deemed "unwanted of life" due to physical disability or mental illness.
  • Zyklon B gas is first tested at the Auschwitz Birkenau camps a use for mass extermination.

    This would become the Nazis "preferred method"for the Auschwitz Birkenau and Majdanek camp.

    Nazi leaders approve the "Final solution"or plan to exterminate the Jews.

    Mobile killing squad or "action kommandos". The largest mass killing by Einsatzgruppen an record was at Babi Yar in Ukraine. 33,000 people were killed in just under 2 days. As the army advanced into the Soviet Union, these groups would round up Jews from the newly occupied areas and kill them usually by shooting

    Anne Frank went into hiding because she was Jewish and the Nazis wanted her to go to a concentration camp. She went with Mr and Mrs Van Dann, Mr and Mrs Frank, Margot, Peter, Miep, Mr. Kraler, and Mr. Dussel. they went into hiding in a secret room where Mr. Frank used to work.
  • Mr. Dussel moves into the secret annex

    Mr. Dussel wasn't really religious and he was a dentist and he is allergic to cats. Mr. Van Daan doesn't like an 8th person moving in because he says that its hard enough to have enough food for 7 people and an 8th person would just make it harder.
  • Warsaw Ghetto Uprising

    Residents smuggled weapons in Ghettos. Uprising lasted for about a month. SS troops arrested and deported residents after the uprising ended.

    Camp Rebellions

    Prisoners fought back at death camps Treblinka. After stealing weapons from guards prisoners tried to escape. Most were killed but few dozen made it out and survived the war. Auschwitz- Birkenau 1944. members of the sander kommando working in the crematorium fought SS guards killing over 70 but all 250 as well as 200 others were killed in response.

    Allies advancing toward death camps. Nazis evacuate prisoners, march them into Germany to avoid capture. Brutal treatment and harsh conditions along the way.
  • Secret annex is discovered and captured by Nazis

    They got caught because they were being loud and celebrating Hanukkah and someone broke into the work place and heard them and told the police on them and they got arrested.
  • Liberation

    Camps throughout Europe are liberated by Allied forces.
  • Hitler commits suicide

    Hitler commits suicide rather than face capture by the Soviet Red Army. Germany surrenders within a week.
  • Survivers

    Displaced person Camps. Areas for former prisoners to stay while searching for family and a permanent place to live.
  • Anne's death is confirmed to Otto Frank

    She went to Westerbrook, a dutch holding camp for a month. Went to Auschwitz labor camp. A three day train ride. Anne was separated from the men. Anne developed scabies. She was sent to Bergen Belsen.
  • Mr. Frank returns to the annex and finds Anne's diary

    When Mr. Frank came back the room was all messed up because the Nazis were there. Anne's diary was so meaningful and popular because it told her story as being Jewish and dealing with Nazis and Hitler.
