    The Cotton Gin
    The cotton gin was invented by Eli Whitney in 1793 in the United States. The cotton gin separated the seeds from the cotton which increased production. This lead to farm owners getting more slaves to increase there production for there wealth. This lead to the Civil War by increasing slavery during this time period.
  • The Missouri Compromise

    The Missouri Compromise
    The Missouri Compromise was created by Henry Clay during the late 1819 and it established the parallel 36'30 as the boundaries where slavery would be allow and where it won't. In the north above 36'30 slavery would be abolish in the south slavery would be used. This lead to the Civil War by creating tension between slave and free states.

    During the Nullification Crisis 1832-1833 South Carolina resisted the federal government and threatened to succeed from the Union. Andrew Jackson who was president at the time use military force to stop this from happening during his term. This lead to the Civil War by creating tension between South Carolina and the Union.

    Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo
    Nicholas Trist negotiated with Mexico and in February 2,1848 Mexico agreed to give the U.S California and New Mexico and acknowledge the Rio Grande as Texas border. This lead to the Civil War by adding more land to the U.S to fight over whether its gonna be free or slave states.
  • The Compromise of 1850

    In 1849 California wanted to apply for statehood so Henry Clay worked on a final Compromise to settle over the free and slave states that would be admitted. The Compromise of 1850 admitted California as a free state and New Mexico and Kansas would decide if they would be free or slave states with popular sovereignty. This lead to the Civil War by creating chaos in Kansas over its popular sovereignty.

    Uncle Tom's Cabin was published in 1851 by Herriet Beecher Stowe. This book was the first glimpse of how slavery really was in the south.This lead to the Civil War by convincing more people that slavery should stop in the North.
  • Bleeding Kansas

    In the Spring of 1855 voting over Kansas becoming a free or slave state was going to take place. People from both the north and the south headed to Kansas to convince people to vote for their side. This lead to conflicts and fights between the North and the South. John Brown was one person involved. He lead raids in Kansa to stop Slavery. This lead to the Civil War by adding more conflicts.
  • Dred Scott Decision

    Dred Scott Decision
    In 1846 Dred scott was a slave for a surgeon but then they moved to Illonois where it was a free state. When his master died Scott declared himself free because he was in the North. When Dred scott went to the south he was told he wasnt free so he went to court to resolved the conflict. At the end Scott was declared property and all the compromises over slavery were declared unconstituional. This lead to the Civil War by ending all the compromises and it made the Northerns mad over this.

    In October 16,1859 John Brown lead a attack on a U.S aresanal which was considered treason. Brown hoped that this attack would inspire the slaves to revock again the masters but nothing happened. John was captured and hanged for treason. This lead to the Civil War by making the South felling unsafe with the Union.

    On November 6,1860 after Lincoln got elected as the 16th president of the United States the southern feared that Lincoln would try to get rid of slavery in the south. This lead to the Civil War by the southerns saw this as hopeless being in the Union.
