  • American Revolution

    At the battle of Lexington on April 19, 1775 'the shot heard round the world' tookmplace and the American REvolution had begun. It wasn't until 1783 that a peace treaty would be signed with the British that would end the Revolutionary War.
  • Declaration of Independence

    The United States declared ther independence from the British. Americans were fed up with the taxes and lack of representation from parliment.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    The United States bought a piece of land called the Lousiana purchase that doubled the size of the United States at that time. For only 15 million dollars they would recieve a huge amount of land and the port of New Orleans, which was essential in trade.
  • War of 1812

    After already losing the revolutionary war the British decided to again try to seize control of the United states. The war ended 3 years later with the United States victorious and with the treaty of Ghent on February 16, 1815 the war was over.
  • Civil War

    Confederate warships started bombing Fort Sumpter under the command of General E. Lee who turned down general of Union forces to lead thge confederate forces. On April 9, 1865 the war ended General E. Lee surrendering to Ulysses S. Grant with hundreds of thousands of men dead.
  • The Great Depression

    The U.S stock market crashed. During this time there was a drought throughout the Great Plains which lead to a shortage of food and panic for the United States. The Great Depression ended with the help of the U.S government in 1939.
  • The Bombing of Pearl Harbor

    Japenese fire Pilots bombed a port called Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. Where the U.S Navy had several ships docked. The day of the bombing it was when ships were being examined and all ports and windows were open. 2,400 men died that day and many of them are still traped inside the ship to this day.
  • D Day

    The U.S Army and allied forces invaded the beaches of Normady and France. In order fight Nazi Germany and their dictator Adolf Hitler. Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower called the operation a crusade in which, “we will accept nothing less than full victory.” More then 9,000 allied forces were killed that day but they allowed more then 100,000 Soldiers to begin the slow and hard journey across Europe to defeat Hitlers army.
  • Apollo 11 Landing on the Moon

    Apollo 11 was the first manned mission to the moon. The first men to ever step on another planetary and the moon were Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. The United States was the leading country in the space race at that time. “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind,” was what Neil Armstrong said as he was the first man to step on the moon.
  • The Terrorist Attack on the Twin Towers

    19 members of the terroist organization al-Qaeda hijacked planes and flew two into the world trade center. They also flew a third plane into the pentagon in Washington D.C. A fourth plane was also hijacked but the passengers didn't allow it to hurt anyone else and they crashed in a field in Pennyslvania. This was one of the most terroizing events in U.S history.
