The Industrial Revolution started in 1760 and lasted until 1850. The population of America began changing from agricultural to industrial.Technology started advancing and many natural resources were being used up very quickly. -
The American Revolution
The American Revolution lasted from April 1775 until September 1783. Germans were allies to the British while France, Spain, and the Dutch Republic were allies to the colonies. There were many events leading up to the American Revolution. The American Revolution resulted in the writing and signing of the Declaration of Independence. -
The Louisiana Purchase
The United States bought the Louisiana territory from France in 1803. It costed us $15 million. It made the United States over twice its original size. -
The Gold Rush
The California Gold Rush began ini 1848 and ended in 1856. People from all over the world came to California to find gold. This made a lot of people move to California from different cultures and America was flooded by emigrants. -
The Civil War
The Civil War was between the states (the Confederacy and the Union). It lasted from April 1861 until May 1865. About 620,000 people were killed within those four years ehich is about half of how many people died between all of the Nation's other wars. -
The Assassination of President Lincoln
President Lincoln was assassinated on April 14, 1865 in Fords theater. He was shot by John Wilkes Boothe. -
The Great Depression
The Great Depression started when the stock market crashed on October 29, 1929. Then the crops were ruined when there was a drought and bad dust storms. World War II was rthe end of the Great Depression because people had to help out whether it was serving or making weapons or growing food. -
The Holocaust
The Holocaust began on January 30, 1933 when Adolf Hitler gained power and lasted until May 8,1945 when he was defreated by his 'allies'. They believe that 11 million people were killed durring the Holocaust. -
Civil Rights (Rosa Parks)
Rosa Parks was a 42 year old, African American woman who started the Civil Rights Movement. After she stood up for herself, others did the same by participating in marches and sit-ins. -
9/11 (September 11, 2001)
On September 11, 2001, there were 4 planes hijacked by terrorists. Two of them crashed into the World Trade Center in New York. The third one crashed into the Pentagon in Washington DC. The fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania.
