    In ancient times Singapore was a *sparsely(barely)inhabited island with little to no records of ancient religions and ethnicities. But, the island of Singapore’s ancient root language of Sino-Tibetan(a language originating from China). To conclude, in ancient times Singapore was a *sparsely(barely)inhabited island with little to no records of ancient religions and ethnicities but the main language was Sino-Tibetian Chinese.

    Indian Immigration

    Indians Immigrated in many ways into Singapore. Firstly, through Buddhist(people who believed Buddha)missionaries. Secondly, Indians conquered Singapore around 1025 AD. Thirdly, the Silk Roads(trading routes between Europe and Asia)were where Indians traded. Lastly, during the colonial period, Tamils(an Indian ethnicity) immigrated to Singapore(1820s-1950s). Due to Indian Immigrants, 33.9% of the population is Buddhist, 5.2% is Hindu and around 355k citizens are of Indian descent.

    Chinese Trading

    Chinese merchants(traders) in Singapore were involved with the China trade after the British established a trading post in Singapore in 1819. Then Chinese traders passed through the *South China Sea and *Singaporean Strait. At the port, they traded Chinese commodities(common goods) such as tea, silk, and porcelain. Chinese trade made up a quarter of all of Singapore's trade. This is a key reason why Singapore’s largest ethnicity is Chinese.

    British Colonization

    In 1819 Sir Stamford Raffles(English explorer) colonized Singapore for the British East India Company(largest trading company). He chose Singapore because the BEI wanted a commercial trading post in *Southeastern Asia. Also, in creating this British port with other European influence they introduced *Christianity to the local people of which 18.8% of Singaporeans are Christian. Due to British colonization, one of the main languages in Singapore is English and there are many Christians.

    There are a *plethora of religions, languages, and ethnicities today in Singapore. Today Singapore has four official languages in its constitution: *Malay, *Mandarin, *Tamil, and *English. As of June 2021, the main 3 ethnic groups in Singapore are Chinese, Malay, and Indian this shows that there are a plethora of *ethnicities. Also, there are 4 religions with above 10% of the population in Singapore. In final, there are a plethora of religions, languages, and ethnicities today in Singapore.
