Construction Begins
The construction of the Titanic begins on March 31.The Titanic was built in Belfast, North Ireland. -
Construction Completed
Titanic was launched at 12:15 p.m. on 31 May 1911. Which means it only took 2 years to build the Titanic. -
Ready to Sail
The Titanic was ready to sail on April 12, 1912. There were about 2,223 people on board (including passengers and crew). -
Icebergs Warnings
Throughout the day seven iceberg warnings were received. -
Frederick Fleet
Lookout Frederick Fleet spotted an iceberg dead ahead. The iceberg struck the Titanic on the starboard (right) side of her bow. -
Water has taken over
Water had poured in and risen 14 feet in the front part of the ship. -
Rescue
Carpathia's rockets were spotted by the survivors.The first lifeboat was picked up by the Carpathia. -
Captain Calls
The captain was told the ship can only stay afloat for a couple of hours. He gave the order to call for help over the radio. -
Leaving Titanic
The orders was given to uncover the lifeboats and to get passengers and crew ready on deck. There was only room in the lifeboats for half of the estimated 2,227 on board.The lifeboats began being loaded with women and children first. The Carpathia, southeast of the Titanic by about 58 miles, picked up the distress call and began sailing to rescue passengers.The first lifeboat was safely lowered away.
