    Civil War: The Civil War
    1.)The election of newly elected U.S president Abraham Lincoln caused most southerners to succeed from the union because of threat of slavery being stopped. 2.)The Confederates fired the first shot at Fort Sumter on April 12,1861 starting the Civil War. 3.)The ratification of the Thirthteen Amendment finally abolished slavery for African Americans.

    1.)Andrew Johnson becomes new U.S president after Lincoln's assasination. 2.)The ratification of the 14th amendment granted all freed slaves citizenship. 3.)White Supremacists violently react to Congress passing the bill of rights of 1866 by formng violent prejudice groups.The Ku Klux Klan is formed.Race riots mass murders of freed slaves occur in Memphis Tennesee.

    Industrialization:Industrialization
    1.)The invention of the steam engine in 1775 revolutionized transportation,powering cars,trains,ships. 2.)The invention of the sewing machine of 1844 produced mass production of cloths and replaced traditional household weave. 3.)Thomas Edison's invention of the first electic light bulb of 1879 caused further electric inventions and became the most important invention in agriculture.

    Gilded Age
    1.) Mark Twain publishes "The Gilded Age:A Tale Of Today" in 1873.A novel that criticized the U.S government with greed,political corruption after the Civil War. 2.) The Haymarket Riot of 1986 was a protest in Chicago's Haymarket square goes down hill after a bomb kills 6 policemen and injures more than 60 people.All supporters were found guilty. 3.) Andrew Carnigie,writes an essay known as the "The Gospel of Wealth" that shows social responsibilities and benefits of having personal wealth.

    Imperialism
    1.) The Spanish-American War of 1898 caused Spain to lose imperialist power over it's colonies in the Carribean,Cuba's independence,and Guam and Puerto Rico becoming territoy to the U.S. 2.) After the Spanish-American War,The U.S became a Pacific power and developed economic interest in Asia. 3.) Some U.S colonies such as Guam and Virgin Islands become naval bases territories includng "Pearl Harbor" in Hawaii.

    World War 1
    1.) The assasination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand on June 28,1914.causes Austria-Hungary to attack Serbia causing more countries to get involved,igniting World War 1. 2.) The Zimmerman telegram enraged American public and caused the U.S to declare war on Germany on April 6,1917. 3.) The Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28,1919 to punish Germany and it's allies.Germany had to pay for the damage caused,it lost land and it's military was greatly reduced.

    Roaring 20's
    1.)On January 16,1920 the 18th amendment was made to ban the making and sell of alcohol. 2.)The 19th amendment was ratified on August 20,1920 to grant women the right to vote. 3.)The Ku Klux Klan is reborn on January 1st,1924 with the goal to intimidate and persecute minorities.

    1.)The stock market crashes on October 29,1929 also known as "Black Tuesday" people lost money,jobs and prices inflated. 2.) Dust Bowl destroyed fields and homes,killed lifestock and crops and farmers were left homeless. 3.)President Roosevelt starts "The New Deal" in January 1st,1933 a plan that helped the economy and lended money.

    World War II
    1.) Japan,attacks U.S Naval Base "Pearl Harbor" on December 7,1941.U.S Declared war on Japan on December 8,1941. 2.)The Holocaust in Europe that started in 1933 and ended in 1945 killed over 6 million Jews (1.5 million being children). 3.)On August 6,1945 the first atomic bomb named "Little Boy" was released and hit the Japanese city Hiroshima.On August 9th the second atomic bomb named "Fat man" is dropped striking the city Nagasaki causing Japan to surrender on September 2nd,1945.

    The Cold War
    1.)The Marshall Plan of April 7,1948 2.)The Vietnam War was a proxy war between the U.S and North Vietnam.The U.S feared if North Vietnam took over South Vietnam it would go on to take over other countries and expand Communism. 3.)The Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962 was a 13 day conflict that nearly drew the U.S and the Soviet Union to nuclear war until it was halted on October 28th.

    The Vietnam War
    1.) The assisination of South vietnamese President Ngo Dinh Diem on November 2nd and U.S President John F. Kennedy on November 22nd,1963. 2.) In the late 1960s U.S Military in Vietnam would use a military tactic known as "Search and Destroy" with the idea of entering hostile territory and eliminating it's inhabitant. 3.) On June 1969, President Nixon promised "Vietnamization" the withdraw of 25,000 U.S soldiers from the war and replace them with trained South Vietnamese troops.
  • Civil Rights Movement

    Civil Rights Movement
    1.)Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gives his famous "I Have A Dream" speech" on August 28,1963. 2.)The Civil Rights Act of 1964 outlawed racial segregation in public. 3.)The Civil Rights Act of 1968 allowed equal housing regardless of race,nationalism,or religion.
