Back in 1892 Ellis Island was known as a historical site. It was open for more than 60 years until it closed. Over 12 million people passed through Ellis Island between the times 1892 and 1924. Annie Moore was the first immigrant to arrive. Today you can find a statue of her on Ellis Island.

Women campaigned showing everyone how serious they were about voting. Men didn't want women to get the chance to vote for fear of women losing their femininity and men losing their masculinity. Women worked so hard around their houses and took care of everything and everyone in their families,and so them not getting to put their opinions out into the open made them so angry.
