Bleeding Kansas
Kansas was an unoffical war zone, the election caused a lot of chaos. On this day about 800 border ruffians from Missouri attacked the town of Lawrence, The capitol of the antislavery Kansas. This shows you how serious people were about the argument of slavery. -
Dred Scott Case Decided
The case was about how a man and his wife were slaves in Missouri, but their owner moved them to the free state Illinois. Therefore, since him and his wife were in a free state he thought their status of slaves was over. The sued for his freedom and won the first battle. Then in 1852 the Missouri Supreme Court overruled that decision.Then U.S. Supreme Court that ruled it in early 1857. The court said once a slave always a slave. -
Lincoln elected president
Though lincoln was a fit president some people didn't like his decisions. Lincoln planned to stop slavery which a lot of people opposed, mainly in the south. Since the south knew they couldnt stop it, they decided to secede, thiswas the start of the civil war. -
Shots fired at fort sumter
This was the start of the war, where it all began. The confederacy was the first to open fire. The union didn't want to let the confederacy take over their government building but, that obviously didn't work. -
The Battle of Gettysburg!!!!!!!
The battle of gettysburg is the most exciting battle in the civil war. It is the battle that wasd the turning point. The union won this battle because the confederacy attempted to fight going up hill,while the union was going down hill. Thisbattle created independce day on July 4. This war changed America's fate. -

The gettysburg address is a speech in which lincoln made our country official. The speech thanks the soliders for the lives lost. This was one the the most important speechs ever given. -
LIncoln Re-elected President
Though lots of people didn't like Loncoln, his haters were out numbered by his supporters. Loncoln was probably one of the best presidents America has had. He made the country even more unitedin his second term. -
Surrender at appomattox
This was an important part in the civil war because, there would've been more casualties if the war didn't end. When Lee(confederacy) surrendered Grant(union) allowed them To be feed, Keep mules, and the generals could keep weapons and horses. The Union took their victory well and fought a good fight. -
Lincoln is assainated
This was a sad day to many in the states because the beloved Abraham Lincoln died. He was shot and killed in his booth at ford's theater by John Wilkes Booth. Booth jumped off the balcony and broke his ankle and was sooon found. Booth killed LIncoln because Booth supported the donfederacy and was furious they lost the war. -
Slavery is outlawed!
The 13 amendment offically outlawed slavery. This meant that slaves were freebut not free from racism. Black men were not allowed to have all the chances in life as a white man did.
