The Guringgai Tribe lived by the river and fished and gathered food from surrounding bushland. -
Early 1800's
Land cleared for vineyards- now called Fullers Park. -
1805
First convict timber cutters and their overseers set up camp on the banks of Lane Cove River at Fiddens Wharf. Bluegums and Blackbutt were logged and dragged along tracks called Government Rd (now Beaumont Road) and Wharf Rd. -
1821
Governor Lachlan issued 5 land grants including 40 acres to Joseph Fidden . 20 acres of each grant were to be cleared for cultivation. -
1830's-1870's
Land grants issued for orange orchards. -
1850's and onwards
Division of land for residential blocks -
1899
Killara train station opened-led to development of suburb-increased population, housing, schools and roads -
1932
Sydney Harbour Bridge opened-led to high increase in population along the North Shore. -
1938
Lane Cove National Park declared-2000 properties adjoin the park. The park is in a narrow valley and is under threat from stormwater runoff, weed infestations and land encroachments.
