HPC will write to social workers in England with information about the HPC, the transfer of the register and what social workers need to do.

You will need to maintain your registration with the General Social Care Council (GSCC) up to and including 31 July in order to transfer automatically across to the HPC. Those renewing their registration with the GSCC in July will not have to pay a fee.

The HPC will be renamed the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

All social workers wishing to work in England will have to renew their registration between 1 September and 30 November.

Information events for registered social workers in England take place in Newcastle, Birmingham, Leeds and Plymouth.

The fees are £76 per year or £152 for the two-year registration period. You can spread out the payments to £38 every six months by direct debit. Newly qualified social workers (within two years of practice) will receive a 50% discount.
