    Henry Clay wrote a compromise in 1820 that balanced the power of congress, the compromise added two new states to the Union. Maine was the free state that was added, and Missouri was the slave state. Any land above the Missouri compromises territory, was free land for the future.
  • Wilmot Proviso

    Wilmot Proviso
    Wilmot Proviso was a man who proposed a ban on slavery. He wanted this ban to take effect on all slavery in Mexican cession territories. He was a representative from pennsylvania.
  • Compromise of 1850

    Compromise of 1850
    The compromise of 1850 were a series of laws meant to stop slaver, and abolish. Both the North and South were frustrated, the compromise failed. This would allow slavery to potentially grow past the Missouri Compromise line. They attempted to limit slavery in DC and California.

    The Fugitive Slave Act was an act that made free White Americans bring back escaped slaves. The act said if you see an escaped slave, you must return him/her to their "master". The law was passed on September 18th, 1850.

    The act allowed Kansas to use popular vote to see whether they would become a free or slave state. Stephen A. Douglas proposed the Kansas Nebraska act. And passed through congress on May 30th, 1854.

It was a landmark decision by the United States Supreme Court on Us labor law, and constitutional law. Dred Scott's case was one of the most controversial cases during the Civil war.

    John Brown's raid was a raid on Harper Ferry. John brown was an abolitionist. He leaded an armed slave revolt in 1859 by taking over the US arsenal at Harper's ferry in Virginia. It was an attempt to destroy slavery.

    Lincoln's election was the Election of Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of The United States of America. The election was held on Tuesday, November 6th 1860. Lincoln served a primary role in the Civil war, he won all the free states, he was Anti-Slavery.

    The southern secession was when the southern states seceded from the United States of America. The southern states separated from the US and made their own flag, this secession will lead to the Civil War. The Southern states will be called the Confederates, and the Northern States will be called the Union in the civil war.
