    First publishing Structure of Scientific Revolutions arguing that scientific revolutions proceed through paradigm shifts. Kuhn asserts that the development of science is driven by adherence to a paradigm. Kuhn says the paradigm is the model of a great scientific achievement providing inspiration and guidance to the completion of scientific research. The functions of a paradigm are supplying puzzles for scientists to solve and help in providing tools to help get to their solution.

    Second edition publishing of Structure of Scientific Revolutions which included an important postscript where Kuhn clarified his notions of paradigm to clap back at Masterman’s criticism

    In 1977, Kuhn published The Essential Tension which stemmed from one of his earlier essays where he emphasizes the importance of tradition in science
