Thomas Kuhn was born in Cincinnati Ohio.

Kuhn went to Harvard for college, he received his masters degree in Physics in 1946. In 1949, Kuhn completed his Doctorate. Because of his thesis for this doctorate, he was later invited to the society of fellows at Harvard.

In 1962, Berkeley asked Kuhn to be a professor of History and science. He was not happy with this promotion, because he was hoping to be a professor of Philosophy.

Kuhn argued that research and thoughts about science were all defined by paradigms. In this concept he was challenging the worlds current conception of science. He believed that science was a steady progression of new ideas.
