    On April 16th, 1867, Wilbur wright was born to Milton Wright and Susan Catherine Koerner.

    On August 19th, 1871, Oriville Wright was born to Milton Wright and Susan Catherine Koerner.
  • The Spark

    The Spark
    Milton Wright, the brothers father, brought home a rubber band powered toy helicopter. The toy did not fall to the ground as expected. Instead, it "flew across the room" until it hit the ceiliing and fluttered to the ground. The toy soon broke but Orivillie and Wilbar never forogt it. They even attempted to build their own toy helicopters.

    The family's immeadiate move to Richmond, Indiana in 1884 prevented Wilbur from receiving his highschool diploma after he had went for four years.

    In late 1885, Wilbar lost his two front teeth after being hit in the face with a hockey stick.

    In 1889, Orville dropped out of school to open his own printing press.

    Working and Testing

    Throught these few years, the Wright Brothers wokred to make the right plane, one that would fly. The tested different theories and by 1903 they had finally found the one they needed.

    In a letter addressed to Octave Chanute, an experienced engineer and a worldwide authority on flight at the time, Wilbur Wright wrote:
    For some years I have been afflicted with the belief that flight is possible to man. My disease
    has increased in severity and I feel that it will soon cost me an increased amount of money if
    not my life. I have been trying to arrange my affairs in such a way that I can devote my entire
    time for a few months to experiment in this field.
  • The First Flight

    The First Flight
    In Kitty Hawk, NC on a cold December morning, history was made. The Wright Brothers were dressed in coats and ties on this ceremonial morning in which would later change the world forever. The brothers shook hands and Orville climed onto the glider. The flight lasted only 12 seconds and didn't even travel the length of an airliner but for the first time, a manned-plane, heavier-than air machine left the ground by its own power.

    The Death of Wilbur Wright
    On May 30th, 1912, Wilbur Wright had a premature passing when he died of typhiod fever. Upon Wilbur's death, Oriville succeeded to the presidencey of the company.
  • Orville Sells the Company

    Orville Sells the Company
    After suceeding to presidency after his brother died in 1912, Orville sold the Wright Company in 1915. He and his sister, as well as his father moved to Oakwood, Ohio.

    On January 30th, 1948, Oriville Wright passed away in Dayton, Ohio. He was 76 years old.
