    The French surrender at the end of the Battle of Dien Bien Phu after fighting against the Viet Minh forces in the First Indochina War. Bringing in the day where the French withdrew from South Vietnam and the United states started helping them, including what well become conflict between the North and South for the Vietnam War.
  • Geneva Accords

    Geneva Accords
    The 17th parallel was supposed to be a temporary boundary between the North and South of Vietnam where the French could peacefully withdraw. It was a cease-fire where the North only signed and the South and U.S respected it, leaving for both sides to see the other as a puppet for what they stood for.

    The Viet Minh guerrilla soldiers raided Bien Hoah in South Vietnam where american military advisory were and two were killed during the raid. They became the first deaths that were reported, bring the U.S into the war against North Vietnam.

    A ship of the US was assaulted a couple days before the attack on the USS Maddox from the North Vietnamese. In result, President Johnson makes the order for a strike against them and ends up bombing the North Vietnam for the first time in the next few mouths.

    President Johnson was not certain about the actions to follow concerning the Vietnam war. So they created a group of retried presidential advisory that were going to help which after two days decided to try in making peace for the war, effecting the decisions that were made after that point.

    President Nixon announces that the US troops will be attacking locations where the enemy was in Cambodia. Which in turn sparks nationwide protest about the attacks that were mostly on college campuses, and decisions that were going to be made from the peace treaty.

    Protests were arsing nationally in america due to the war, most popular was the protest at Kent state university. Sadly the popularity was from the National Guard trying to disperse the group, where one of them shoot into the coward, which killed four and wounded nine. This event led to more anti-war protest and riots, trying to bring the message to the government to get out of the war.

    The North Vietnamese ended up crossing the 17th parallel in an attack against the South, making Nixon order a bombing at the North Vietnamese. Leading to the following peace talks in Pairs to become more concrete in trying to find a cease-fire then the end to the war.

    All three representative from the Vietnam War, the U.S, North and South Vietnam signed a peace agreement that called for cease-fire and the U.S was going to with draw their troops with South Vietnam agreeing to hold elections to let the people to decided their future. Finally bring peace that the nation had been advocating for.

    This marked when Vietnam War was officially over for the U.S, the troops had to be withdrawn and the last went away except for military advisory. Unfortunately, leaving the South Vietnam in a weak position for the future.
