    The purpose of the Spanish Inquisition was Catholics tortouring and punishing Jews and other religions for not having the same beliefs and turning into Catholics like themselves.

    What methods were used?

    Torture was used to punish the non-Catholics. One method that was used was called the Strappado. The person is lifted into the air with a rope attached to his hands which are tied behind their back. The torturer then pulls on the rope until the person's arms eventually break.
