    The Sugar Act of 1764 was to reduce the pay of taxes and molasses. The tax pay would be six pence per gallon of molasses. The English product would be cheaper than the French West Indies.

    In 1764 during the Currency Act there were no gold or silver mines. Currency could only be obtained by trading with Great Britain. Many of the colonist felt there was no alternative to printing their own paper money in forms of bills for credit.

    The Townsend Act of 1767 was an act for granting certain duties for the Britich colonies and plantations in America. "From infancy I was taught to love humanity and liberty. Inquiry and experience have since confirmed my reverence for the lessons then given me by convincing me more fully of their truth and excellence. Benevolence toward mankind excites wishes for their welfare, and such wishes endear the means of fulfilling them."
